Facilities and services in detail
Mobility
The medieval ground-floor halls — Salle des Gens d'Armes, Salle des Gardes, kitchens and Marie-Antoinette's memorial chapel — are entirely step-free and accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. The upstairs Revolutionary Tribunal rooms are reached by a narrow 17th-century staircase with no lift, and unfortunately remain inaccessible to wheelchair users. Free wheelchair loan is available at the entrance on a first-come basis. Accessible toilets are on the ground floor near the bookshop.
Sight
The HistoPad tablet includes detailed audio descriptions of every major room, narrated in 11 languages. CMN runs quarterly touch tours where blind and partially sighted visitors explore high-quality tactile reproductions of architectural fragments alongside an experienced guide — book through the CMN accessibility department.
Hearing
Sign-language video tours in French Sign Language (LSF) are available on the HistoPad, and induction loops are installed at the ticket desk. CMN runs occasional LSF guided tours on the second Saturday of the month — check the official calendar.
Cognitive
A simplified visit guide (FALC — French facile à lire et à comprendre) is available in print at the entrance, intended for visitors with cognitive disabilities. It can also be downloaded in PDF from the official site before your visit.
